Tibetan Incense

This is where I get mine. For some reason just the scent of this amazing incense puts me right into a meditation space.

bio-energy-healingThe 3rd Annual 12-Step Buddhist Summer Retreat at Breitenbush Hot Springs

Energy, Healing and Transformation

August 25th-27th – Sunday 6pm-Tuesday Noon

Please pass this on to your friends and those who could benefit from this experience!

NOTE: We will still have the winter retreats. The 5th Annual 12-Step Buddhist Winter Retreat will be in the last weekend of January, 2014.

For our third summer retreat we’ll be working with energy, healing and transformation.

We’ll have four-five sessions beginning Sunday evening and ending Tuesday lunchtime. We have breakout sessions and a weekend creative + artistic healing project. Breitenbush is sacred land and is ripe with energy for this kind of work. The program will include silent and guided meditations, all levels yoga (optional but strongly encouraged), ongoing writing/reflection practices, as well as group and individual exercises designed to make the practice come alive.  There will be a more traditional style 12-Step meeting on Monday evening. This will be open to all and will include a meditation, speaker/chairperson and participant sharing. There will also be a session and/or project for women in some form depending on the balance of men and women.

We’ve confirmed two guest presenters as well: Pat Norris, a long-term Zen teacher/practictioner from the Zen Center of Portland, and  and Rosemary Beam, Shamanic Healer/Practitioner and Co-Founder of Rising Fire.  Other guest presenters, TBA. We always do our best to make it a fun, integrated, and transformative experience!  Darren is now certified as a Yoga of 12 Step Recovery (Y12SR) leader. We’ll be working with some of the Y12SR meditations, group practices and gentle yoga on this retreat.

This is a warm community setting. Everyone is welcome – you don’t have to be Buddhist or be in recovery. If someone is struggling with sobriety, however, please contact us before registering. Couples are welcome and can likely get accommodations together.

Camping is also an option in the summer.

All deposits are non-refundable. To secure your lodging choice, please include the lodging cost with your retreat fee. Lodging is given on a first come, first fully paid basis. NOTE: All monies must be in full by August 20th to reserve your spot. We’ve extended this to accommodate more people. IMPORTANT: we will not accept money at the retreat. You must be paid in full before the first day of retreat, otherwise, your spot can be given as a donation to someone who can’t afford the retreat.  It’s very difficult to manage money once we begin the retreat and outstanding administrative tasks tend to get in the way of a great retreat experience!

You may register by PayPal by using the button below. Calculate your $110 (early-bird) retreat fee and add your lodging fee. Lodging fees are listed for the full weekend per person. If you would rather pay in person or by check, send an email to Tysa Fennern. Tysa will be handling all lodging assignments, registration questions, and dietary needs. If you have any questions about the retreat topics or details, please contact Darren.

Please see the Breitenbush Hot Springs website for details, directions and restrictions. If you are coming from out of state, please register on their site for ride sharing. We will also have ride sharing through the 12-Step Buddhist Google Group. Register for that under the Resources Tab on http://the12stepbuddhist.com

Please note: The dates are on a Sunday through Tuesday.

Rideshare
There are many great reasons to rideshare, from reducing greenhouse gases and saving money to meeting new people. We now have a Breitenbush rideshare website which is available to our registered guests. Information about connecting to the site is included in confirmation emails we send. If you have questions about the rideshare site, feel free to ask us when making a reservation or send us an email.

The Rideshare site is only intended for Breitenbush guests and staff. We also have people with some space in their cars. Email Tysa Fennern if you’re having trouble getting your own ride. It takes about 2 hours from SE Portland to get up there. SPECIAL NOTE: USE ONLY DIRECTIONS PROVIDED BY BREITENBUSH in the confirmation emails sent prior to the retreat.
